Machine-learning nanosats to inform global trade

Writer's picture: GLOBUGLOBU

A new set of nanosatellites launched into space aims to monitor global trade and resources more efficiently. Developed by Spire Global UK, these machine-learning capable satellites enhance the ability to predict the movement of goods, particularly for shipping, aviation, and weather forecasting. The satellites use advanced algorithms to track vessel locations and predict arrival times, helping port authorities and traders make informed decisions. This initiative, supported by the UK Space Agency and ESA, is part of a broader effort to improve the accuracy and speed of global trade predictions, with the ability to process data directly in orbit. The satellites offer a smarter, faster approach to understanding global trade dynamics, while also positioning the UK as a leader in space technology.
